Even though I have already begun to get involved in a few discussions, one a little heated, but I'm an opinionated old Crone. As for profiles, and such, my screen name, at least here anyway, is Lilith, I am a Priestess of the Old Religion, I was trained, and initiated in the Pictish Tradition. The coven I trained in, and ultimately led, was active during the decade of the 80's, but disbanded, after many of our coveners had moved on, physically that is, out of state, myself included. I shall not reveal the name, but the coven itself was strictly traditional Pictish, with rich oral history attached to it. I had later learned that it is quite possibly over 3 generations old...more on that later perhaps, if I decide to stay a regular member here, and equally so, if I am allowed to participate as such. Be it known again, however, a novice I am not. What I would like to be is a regular member here, like everyone else. I am the Board Administrator of my own pagan forum, of which I choose not to advertise here. I find that to be tacky, myself. I'm sure Lark will understand, and even be appreciative of such a statement.
Well, that all said, again, even though I do NOT consider myself to be Wiccan in any sense, I was initiated to the 3rd Degree as a High Priestess many years ago. But as I find such labels unnecessary, especially in my place, as a solitary, I find that such a label as Priestess, or rather, HIGH Priestess falls upon the leader of a coven, and if such a coven does not exist, then such a label is rather redununt, don't you agree? I do use the term Priestess, as in a Priestess of the Goddess, or the Old Ways, the Old Religion, but that is about as far as I feel is necessary. I would not say I am a "kitchen/hedge" witch, although I do consider myself a witch, not Wiccan, and I do not feel the need to cap the W in witch in my case. Of course I respect any and all others that may, it is just that again, I do not. Herbalism, ritual, Casting a Circle, ritual ceremony, the works, are all up my field, although Ceremonial magic is not. However, as for Sabbats/Esbats, I do feel that a Circle should be cast, the Goddess and God invoked, and the Watchers...Other than that, I'm also perfectly comfortable with lighting a candle, some granular incense I always make myself, and a "relic" of some kind, a piece of parchment, etc...to burn, annoint, etc...a target of some sort for the energy I raise and direct to it, for a specific spell, that is usually good enough for me now. No circles, no grand theatrics are needed. After all, it is the mind that makes the magic, yes. Ahhh...perhaps the rest of this should go in Crones and Sages...After all, the Novice I feel must experience all aspects and beliefs of magical systems in all it's packaged form.
And with that, I suppose I'll close this book now. LOL... Merry Meet everyone! And Merry Part. And Merry Meet again... I look forward to becoming a regular member here, if you all will have me.
Good Night...
