Hey all, I go by Araina and this is my first forum for paganism and Wicca. Usually I just hang around boards reading the posts and never really post anything.

But I don't think that will be the best method for me any longer, as I have just really begun to learn about paganism and wish to start off on the right foot, and not have to unlearn everything later. So if you could point me towards some good books, or at the very least provide authors to avoid (or take with a grain of salt), it'd be much appreciated. Thank you all.

Hello and welcome to Branwen's.  I'm glad you decided to drop out of lurk mode and post an introduction.  We have some very good people on here who will be happy to try to help you out.  Is there a particular form of Paganism that you're interested in?  I'm one of the resident Wiccans here and always happy to answer questions about Wicca.

If it is books on Wicca you are interested in then you might want to check out my post at http://www.branwenscauldron.org/index.php/topic,5657.0.html for some suggestions.

Authors that I do not recommend include Silver Ravenwolf, D.J. Conway, Edain McCoy, Raven Grimassi, Gavin and Yvonne Frost, Sirona Knight, and Fiona Horne.

So pull up a chair and make yourself at home.

Thanks Lark and neonpinkfaery! Yeah, I am mostly interested in Wicca, but I would like to find out about the other types too, though admittedly I don't really know what the other options are.

My local library has a small collection of books on paganism, and a lot of them seem to be the authors you don't recommend. So I don't know much about it.

Thanks Lark! That was a really useful post and I am going to see if we have any of those titles at my library or local bookstores.

Welcome Araina Smiley

Do check out

www.wicca.timerift.net

It's my favorite basic Wicca info resource--basically an accurate online book on Wicca. They have articles on all sorts of things from God/Goddess, Book of Shadows, History, Mythology surrounding Wicca, and a LOT more.

Enjoy your journey!
