I was looking back through some archived threads and found some of my musings from 2006.  It's really strange, like digging up a time capsule that you forgot you buried.  I kind of recognised the sentiments but I am happily better with apostrophes now!

I really don't know how I stumbled back upon this site...there was absolutely no conscious intention.  I find that I go through cycles of getting very 'all-business' and I think I'm doing ok but then, gradually and all at once, I realise that something has been lost. That's me now.  All business and far removed from myself.

I need to address this.  There were always some good people as well as some sound information around here; maybe that's why I stumbled back.

So, yeah reconnection or something...that's not too much to ask, surely!  Wink

It doesn't seem so busy around here, but quality over quantity- as 'they' say.

Hope all is well.  BB.

Not as busy as once upon a time.  Boards have gone the way of the buggy whip.  It's all about the social networking sites now.

But the less-fickle of us are still around.

Always glad to strike up a conversation when it presents itself.

Oh yes MyTweet and FaceSpace, etc.  They have their place. They are pulp fiction but sometimes you just need a good book.  Hehe.

I'm just having a poke through some of the old threads etc.  Brainfood.  Good stuff.

Look forward to weighing in on some conversations in the future!  Smiley

Welcome back!

Yeah, it's kind of quiet around here.  Many of us have had attacks of real life, and others as has been said hang with the social networking sites.

But Branwen's is still here for another two years...I just paid the site fees.  So there should still be a conversation or two to have.

Oh good news!  I like a good chat.

Ah yes 'attacks of real life', isn't reality sometimes like a daily assault?!  Being a grown up is much harder that I would have thought (yes I'm 29 and probably should be getting used to it by now- but I get the distinct feeling that I never will)!

I just sometimes struggle to shoehorn anything into my life apart from the mundane: cleaning the flat, work paying bills, etc.  The actually important things seem to fall by the wayside.  I realise that I should make time or maybe that I should look for aspects of the Divine/Spiritual in my mundane activities?

Hmm.  A conundrum.

How do you guys manage?

How do I manage to fit my spiritual life into my household life?

I just kind of do. I make time for hobbies and fun things (like trawling magic message boards Smiley) by getting boring things done first, or putting them off till later.

More often than not I put things off... I heard a wonderful saying somewhere - "Never do today what you can put off til tomorrow". Not something I try to live my life by in general, but useful sometimes, ha ha.

I put up a little altar in my kitchen window sill, so I see it often (my main one is tucked away in another room with all my bells, books, and candles). When I vaccuum or dust or wash dishes I try to remember that those actions can be magical and sacred--purification and cleansing of space and items (and self). I try to remember to breathe and ground & center throughout the day (promoting "mindfulness" as Thich Nat Hanh (sp?) describes it).

If Deity is Immanent, then when we wash or drive or type or weed we are interacting with Divinity and the embodiment of Divinity--it just takes remembering and awareness (a skill I'm ever working to improve!).

I dont know where it goes either.

I hate face book and Myspace. Mainly because its such a large community (more like a small country) now that you really dont know who you are communicating with.
I prefer a place like Branwens of like minded people, and Im pretty secure in the knowlege that the moderators run the forum in the correct way.
I dont use face book or myspace, though my teenage son does. Eventhough he's 16, I still keep an eye on him. Those places leave kids (and others) in a vunerable position and I dont think they are regulated well or enough.

Incorporating the spirtual life into everyday activities.... sometimes its difficult.  I have statues and candles around the house, in prominent places so they are always there, and they serve as a reminder. I also make sure I have my candles lit every night and say a small thank you for the day. My beliefs and path I follow is always in my mind, sometimes tucked away till called upon.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Blessings

I'm so glad the board is here. I hate trying to have group discussions on facebook or myspace, it just doesn't feel the same as on a message board and things tend to devolve into madness and cat macros alarmingly quickly. (or are those just the people trolling the Gothic groups I'm in?)

Keeping in touch with the spiritual, even in small ways, is a big deal for me.I hate the job I'm at right now, so having something to ground and center myself every day is a BIG priority. I bring my Goddess cards to work, pick one at random, and meditate on the selected goddess and how she can help me throughout the day. I take ballet classes at night, in a Julia Morgan redwood studio, where I can see the moon during class and offer the (dubious!) gift of my dancing to her. I cast a circle before practicing my violin every day, because music is sacred, and it can only do good things for my musicianship. And I try to always have a candle burning for those in need.

I particularly love the idea of music being sacred...I could not agree more!  This certainly justifies my more than ropey guitar playing!  The Band Music taps into some primal instinct I think- something really subconscious.  It can be utterly transporting.  In some ways akin to meditation?  Also preparing (good) food; there's something really 'reconnecting' about baking bread or making really rustic soups and things.  The bounty of the Earth.  I don't get the same feeling from tucking into crisps and choccies tho!!
