Merry Meet,
I have been on this sight before, regretably, I lost my password and could not regain it. I have been to many sights and this one I have found has been the only one which is not either crazilly so not accurate and there are real people interested in wicca and the wiccan lifestyle.

I have recently been reading some books on witches, wicca and the like. I would like to talk to some people about wicca, either people who are familiar with it or even some beginners lie myself. It is something that interests me. I would really like to learn more.

Please do not hesitate to reply, or to contact me. Anyone who wishes to talk to me, is welcome.

Blessed be.

Hello and welcome.  I'm glad you found your way back to Branwen's.

I've been Wiccan for many years now, including 12 years as HPS of my own coven.  So I'll be happy to try to answer your questions about Wicca if I can.  And I'm sure you'll find others here willing to help as well.

Wow! Thats amazing. How many are in your coven? I sent you a provate message. I do have some questions, although they may sound a bit 'dumb' for lack of a better word...

12 years you say, what made you practice wicca?

Please don't hesitate to ask. Unless you ask something like "can you really change the color of your eyes?" I'm sure it's fine! We love to answer questions!

Thanks, but I am so worried that I will embarrass myself with my questions...

Don't let that be a concern.

We all started someplace.  We all asked questions at one time or another that make us cringe today.  It's all part of the learning process.

hello!  ask away, it's the only way to learn anything.  99% of the people here are fantastic and willing to help anyone who is truly interested.

My own coven at one time had 34 adults in it.  The coven I'm in now only has 8.  I sort of like the smaller group, much more intimacy there.

Eight would be a nice size!  Thirty four sounds like it could be a be crazy-making!

I honestly think that there was more to the traditional number of 13 in a coven than that it was based on an esoteric number.  Once your group gets much larger than that you start to develop cliques and schisms.  Our experience was that as the number reached 25-30 all of a sudden someone would feel that they weren't getting their fair share of the attention and they would leave, often taking some of their friends with them.  Smaller groups have problems too, don't get me wrong, but they do seem tighter knit and more personal.

Just for grins there was one time when the original two covens of our Trad got together for Beltane and we had 62 adults in circle...and that wasn't all of the adults in the two covens.

I think you are right; the set up for small covens took into account the complicated social wiring people have and acknowledged that we naturally tend to smaller groups.

I honestly don't know how the mega-churches do it---extreme collections of folks like that give me the heebie jeebies!  And no, it is not only because of bumper stickers warning me of the power of stupid people in large numbers!
