A few times in my magical experience, I have charged an item for a purpose and it (sometimes) disappears within a few days. Other times it will remain. In your experience, why does a charged item sometimes stay, and sometimes disappear?

Do you mean the "charge" disappears or the item disappears?

If the charge is what vanishes, I am the wrong person to ask---I am not that adept at noticing energy.  But it would seem very likely to happen, if you ask me; osmosis should affect energy like it does other stuff.

If the ITEM is what goes away....well, lol, you know, around here I would be searching woozle stashes!   Evil Laugh Out Loud

I occasionally think my labrys pendant does this---and I go crazy searching for it.  It is always somewhere I put it, and forgot, in a state of 'Oh gawds, get me out of these clothes and into the hot water!" of some sort.

hello!!!

whenever I charge objects, they always move places or disappear.  it seems they become drawn to a certain purpose (that I do not know of exactly), but they ALWAYS appear later at the correct time.  it's really funny.

Well, I'm still honing my energy sensitivity. What happens is that the item itself disappears (or shatters). Here are a few examples from the last 5 years:

Once I charged a necklace for a friend to help him heal (emotionally/mentally) and it dropped off his neck within a week never to be seen again.

A friend of mine gave someone two stones--one for peace, and one for self love (the person given the stones was very, very stressed out). Both disappeared almost immediately, and the self love stone reappeared in the middle of her floor a week later (I was there when she found it).

I gave my husband a hematite ring to help him shield from negative/hectic energy at work (he has trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, and is constantly exhausted), and it shattered two weeks later when he was clapping his hands softly with our toddler.

Five different items--including 2 stones--given to me by one particular magical family (experiencing internal unrest) shattered/melted/broke within days (or hours) of the gifting.

The only thing I can figure is
1) They break or disappear due to energetic overload or something (ex. hematite ring/healing necklace)
2) They break to prevent negative energies from transferring (ex. gifts from magical family)

Hence the question. I don't do a lot of charging other than with my own magical tools (which stay put and in one piece!!), and am curious what you all have learned from your experiences.

Another possibility might be that the object in question has done its job, transferred its energy charge to the individual in question, and then was no longer required to be physically present.  This could be especially true of items which break or shatter.  The shattering might represent the release of the charge into the Universe to do its work.

Well, now I have to think about that.  A couple years ago, a pair of my favorite fluorite pieces shattered.  I was heartbroken....now, maybe it was just in tune with my needs and the demands on me at the time.

I used to have a wand handcrafted by myself when I started this path. I got the design from a dream in which an inquisitor took it from me and broke it in half when he incarcerated me, but once I woke up I draw it and made it anyway, 'cause I felt connected with that tool.

One day, some years after, I came home from work and saw it in halves on the floor. It fell from the altair somehow. The half that usually would point to me got lost a few days after, never found it again.

I guess it was destined from the start...? maybe I unconsciously programmed it to break, right?

A necklace and a ring I charged to work some aspects of myself dropped and disappeared too. The ones I charge for others stay or come back to me in time.

One of my teachers used to say that it happens when the object has "no reason to be" anymore, as Lark also says.
