Well, it seems Summer may be passing England by, very quickley I might add, BUT last night I sat on the door step with Jon and Millie and watched the most fantastic display of lightening, the forks were dashing right across the sky. Mind it was sheeting rain too and got very cold. Ryan, my 15 year old joined us as he got a little spooked (though wouldn't admit it) being upstairs with the noise of thunder.

We've had some strange weather this year, two weeks ago the temperature hit 33 and everyone was keeling over, then lots of rain for a good few days then yesterday it was sunny all day so I went and chopped all the dead, dying or troublesome plants down in the garden and considered a BBQ at the weekend .... then the storm hit.  Today is cold, damp and grey but I must admit I'm glad we're not melting.

Have a happy weekend everyone.
Blessings

I love thunder storms. I stayed at a place on a creek one time, we were in a bungalo-studio sort of house which was right on the dock. It was early summer, and there were at least three storms during our stay there.

It was about three in the afternoon when the sky got dark. I saw the clouds roll in and the wind picked up big time. Eddie, my boyfriend, he had already gone back inside. I stood out on the end of the dock just watching the storm approach. I could see the wall of rain and watched it come halfway across the creek. I was ready to run for it, to race the rain back to the house, but it stopped there in the middle of the creek. I was getting a few sprinkles but it held off for maybe five minutes before it rushed me and started pouring, it soaked me. Eddie just laughed and handed me a towel when I got inside.

We watched the water rise to right under the dock and it kept raining all night. The thunder and lightning didn't get there until maybe nine-ish.

I loved thunder storms as a child.  I'd want to stand out in the wind and feel the power in them as they approached.  Sometimes it felt as though all you had to do was spread your arms out and you could fly.

Then I moved to "Tornado Alley".  Now I'm not much fond of thunderstorms, particularly in the early spring, since they often have tornadoes birthing in their bellies.  It takes all of the enjoyment out of things when you're afraid there might really be a wind there that could make not only me but also my house fly away.
