Hi Everyone,
As I have said before, I live in the countryside, amist fields and woods. And I was sitting in the front room with Ryan, my eldest, 2 nights ago watching football / soccer and I thought I saw a bird fly from the eaves of the house. We live in a cottage so the upstairs rooms are in the roof and the roof tiles reach to the top of the lower floor. (There is a small attic).
Then I realised, it was nearly dark and the birds would have gone to roost. Suddenly, about 40 more flew out of the eaves and started chasing the moths that were hovering outside the window as I had a candle burning on the cill.

Then I realised we've gots "Bats in the Belfry".

What an amazing sight!!

They are a protected species and seeing as they don't do any harm, I'm going to leave them alone and hope they have a happy time in my roof.

Blessings
Kate. xx

Way cool!

Some folk over here are starting to realize just how beneficial bats are in controlling insects.  Farmers are putting up bat houses near the crops, etc.

I love the little fleder-mice (OK, so it's bad German!)  We have a cave just up the road from us that is home to 2 endangered species of bats and we get to watch them every evening during the summer.  Thank goodness for the bats or we'd be inundated with skeeters and gnats!

Here's to bats in the belfry!
