I know there is no easy solution to the perils of Israel, especially after recent events in Gaza.  But members of a Reclaiming group protesting in Israel scarcely deserve to be fired upon.  One member, Tristan Anderson is now in critical condition after being shot in the head with a tear gas cannister.

So, please, go ye forth and make magic to save Tristan's life and health, ok?

I want to weep just thinking about the effect on him and people who love him.  He was not throwing rocks, nor was he near those who were doing so.  Even the medics trying to carry him away came under fire.

Thanks, Kate.  He is still in dire condition in the hospital.  Surgery to remove the mangled parts of his frontal lobes has occurred and they are keeping him unconscious.  But he is off the ventilator.  His parents tried to hold a press conference about his condition, but since other protesters were there with him, the Israeli police broke the whole meeting up, beating people up.  His folks did not get to speak at all....so finding news about him is a bit difficult.

I am truly sorry that he was injured in this way, and I will gladly add my prayers and energy to his recovery.

But I think this should also stand as a cautionary tale to those who choose to go into a war zone even for the most peaceful of purposes.  People do get caught up in the violence and a bullet or tear gas canister does not care whether you are a combatant or not.  Understand before you go that you are putting your life on the line and ask yourself whether you are ready to do that.  Wars are nasty, brutish affairs that don't pay much attention to civilized behaviors.
