On another board, several of us noted that tho' Mercury went direct recently, everything ELSE seemed to go "south" as they say.

Good communications and relations suddenly went sour, accidents and even serious illness and death suddenly soared among the group.

So, we were all going "Uh....heLLO...wtf?"  Anyone here notice a peculiar 'lingering crapola' effect this month?

We've had teh $#@t hit the fan here as well. My MIL is back in the hospital she had the toes of her right foor amputated in Dec. Now she's be debrided to the point that now she only has the heel of her foot left, my FIL fell down the steps and is also in the hospital, he dislocated his shoulder. They will be going to rehab upon discharge (I hope, at least for a little bit) and then the fun comes and I get to go over everyday and do wound care! Oh joy!!

It's been a crazy bad year thus far.

In early January a friend from high school died.  The day after his funeral, my grandfather's kidney's got a block in them and he was sent to the hospital.  He died the next thursday.  The day before his funeral, our roommates broke up, and they both moved out (it's a lot of drama that's still going on.  I'm so tired of it!)

Tuesday, a professor of mine who was put into the hospital the same day as my grandfather passed on as well.  I'm just ready for everything to stop.

Always.

Retrograde Mercury is certainly not the only planetary phenomenon associated with unfortunate and unexpected events. I think the Saturn-Uranus opposition has been reflected in many events of late, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be gone soon. Both are very slow-moving planets, so they stay within orb for a long time.

Wow.... an astrologically saavy pal tells me that Merc is now crossing Capricorn, and until that is over, it may as well be retro.   She says that is why manure is still hitting air distribution devices; I hope she is right because the traverse is finished Saturday!

I made new oils for candles today---something I neglect at times because candles are not my primary magical thing.  But I made all new fresh ones and am lighting a regular candelabra in the morning for all of you and others having stressful sorrowful times.

Also did elemental work today, and will more tomorrow as I view Friday 13th as a great day for magical efforts to change luck and direction.  Even if we are in for a long haul (via Saturn vs Uranus) I hope some of the hardships can be mitigated or the grief lessened.

All of which may help to explain why Pantheacon felt so weird this year.  All of the energies seemed out of whack and all I wanted to do was stay in my room and far away from all the crazy people.

So sorry to hear it wasn't perfect, Lark!  But yes, it has felt more like that 'long strange trip' than usual....

Oh that's not to say that I didn't have a good time.  I even got to meet Kaguya from here on Branwen's and a number of other people I've known on-line for years.  Plus we got to have a great chat with Thorn Coyle one evening.  And of course it meant that I got to spend 5 whole days with Brock!

But you really have to shake your head when one of the workshops is aimed at getting in touch with and awakening the volcano spirits of the Oakland Hills.  What part of living on a major, unstable fault line did these people miss that they thought calling on volcano spirits was a good idea?  Fortunately Pele' seemed to be out of town on a hot date somewhere else so we didn't see any new smoking mountains gracing the SF skyline.

There were some really good workshops as well.  R.J. Stewart, Thorn, and Ivo Dominguez taught some great stuff.  But overall it was more like being at a costume party than at anything approaching taking spirituality seriously.

I would so love to get myself to some of Thorn's workshops!

Waking volcano spirits?  Good grief...between them and that idiot from Louisiana thinking volcano monitoring is "pork" we should all practice the duck and cover move!

Thorn's workshops are awesome!  Everytime I go to them it's as if she helps me open myself up a bit more to the mystic and I also always walk away with a lot of new ideas/concepts to ponder.

By the way, she has a new book out called "Kissing the Limitless" that I picked up at P-Con and haven't had a chance to start reading yet.  It looks like a good one.

And I also picked up Diana Paxson's new book on trance work which Brock is reading now.

I do plan to get her book, last I checked it was not yet released at large.  She also has a new music CD coming soon.

What is the title of Paxson's book?  I am currently going thru one of her older ones on Asatru since I am having some interaction with the local group that my son practices with as often as not.
