Good Morning everyone,
I wanted to stop in and say hello and wish everyone a blessed Mabon. Things have gotten a little busy around here lately. All five children and back in school (does the happy dance) I am back in school, boy I really had no idea how young college students are these days. In one of my classes the oldest person is 19 (other than me, obviously) and the youngest is 14! I have children older than these folks! Man does going back to school make me feel really old!

Congrats on going by to school!

Look at the age difference this way - you can be a positive role model by showing that you are never too old to learn. Smiley

What are you studying?

ETA: Just for information sake: I completed my MBA in May and I'm thir*&^%( years young. Wink  You are never too old to learn.

Congratulations!

Going back to school is really fun.  We do it because we love learning and we get to study what we want to learn about.  We aren't distracted by hormones and keggers and worrying about whether we're popular or not.  And our life experience brings a whole near viewpoint to what we study.

So like Silaria, I'd love to know what you're studying.

::::beats back the covet fit:::::::::

I wish I could have finished college.  I loved being there with all those sweet young students...just the youthful bounce and beauty of them all made me feel happy.  Human puppies and kittens, and just as charming, even when they thought they were "soooo bad"....I miss that now.  It is what made me love tutoring them in history and philosophy.

Studying for the same thing I was last year LOL seems like I'll never finish. I am a dialysis technician now,Have been for 19 years, I am working on my RN. I finally got smart enough to figure out that I am doing the work of the RN's we have, hell I've trained most of them! And they get paid a whole lot more than I do. So I got wise and decided it was time to go  back and finish what I started, way back when LOL

Yay for you Rowan CedarWolf!

Someday I'm going to follow your example and go back for a Masters in what I realize (now!) I should have studied all along: biology. Until then, I'll battle diapers and giggles and food on the floor Smiley

I'm working on my RN, too.  I'm loving it, much to my surprise (I tried to back out of it last semester and try to be a teacher or something, but now I'm set on it.

This year seems tobe much easier than it should be.  That worries me, yikes!

Good luck, kids Smiley

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing.  I'm going to take a couple classes this summer so I don't have a huge load to worry about.  Maybe that will help things out a little.

I'm planning on going back next year, I've spent 2 years doing my Counselling NVQ 1,2 and 3 and Im going to take this to another level and train to be a social worker or probation officer. With the Counselling skills as well, I hope to be able to help turn a few peoples live around for the better.
Going to take a year off first and concentrate on the children. (My 14 year old is being evil at the moment - all those new male hormones.)

Yep, I started back to school two years ago.  Although I have a Master's in Guidance and Counseling I am now working my way through the Pastoral Counseling program at Cherry Hill Seminary to learn how to pair my counseling skills with a Pagan and spiritual perspective.  It can be hard juggling classwork with work, home, and coven but it is certainly worth it.

I think it is marvelous that so many of us are going back to school and pursuing our dreams.  It just shows how vital it is that we never stop learning, even if that learning is never done in a formal academic setting.

I hope to get bills under control and the car paid off by next September.  And then, the plan is for me to return to school.  Not to finish my bachelors degree, alas, but to get something immediately worth a job---an LPN license and then perhaps the two year RN program.

I am terrified.  I feel like my brain has turned to dust and spiderwebs due to the mind fog of menopause.  What if my brain really DOESN'T work anymore??!

Wow it looks like we are all pretty much in the same boat. Perhaps we can support each other, help each other with what one of us doesn't understand maybe, since we will be taking a lot of the same classes

Labrys, I'm shocked that you are worried about it. The biggest thing about college is teaching all of the 'newly released wild' how to have critical thinking skills and not fall for everything just because it's in a book. The only other thing is memorization.

Girl, you got what it takes in spades! All that reading you do...you haven't been sitting on your duff.

You know, I've realized that I prefer hanging out with the ladies who have gone and lived their life, raised their kids, and come back to school.  There's a woman in my lit class who is the sweetest, and she notices details in language that I don't, and I love love love to study with her.  She brings a new perspective because of her experiance that I wouldn't have seen if I were just taking text and evaluating it myself.

I'm just going through school the first time, but I think it's magnificent that you all are going back Smiley
