Yard sale bliss!  The first yard sale weekend in almost eight years and I found the coolest yard sale find EVER!!  And is not $13 the perfect price?

Who needs a broom when you have one of these?  Wink

That is wickedly cool!! Kinda scary to imagine what sort of people put a scythe in a yard sale..... But still really great find.

Why scary?  We live in a semi-rural area....people somewhat routinely clean out old barns and such and all kinds of amazing things are found.

The guy also had an amazing assortment of plants.

Thanks!  My hearth is my altar, although I have one outdoors as well.  I will let that scythe percolate into my life thru this winter, I did buy it half out of some fun Pratchett-ish puckishness (I plan to be Susan at a party!) and partially with some ritual use in mind.

As the fall comes early, I know I will be thinking of how that will work for me.

Oooh, love the shiney!  I bet you'll be the hit of the evening for the trick-or-treaters this year.

Alas, we get no trick or treat kids!  We are just far enough off the suburban path that there are no sidewalks, it is unsafe for kids to walk at twilight or dusk here.  Cause otherwise, oh yeah...I could have some fun.

But a friend has a party for the Day of the Dead and costumes are encouraged.  I am working to see if I can achieve Pratchett's "Susan"....oh, the hair scares me, lol!

Good luck achieving Susan's hair!

I love your mantle and scythe, by the way!

That scythe inspires me every time my eye falls upon it, lol!

The hair...omgs...that scares me.  I mean, I am clueless about hair anyhow.

Labrys,
I could really do with borrowing that sythe....
Ryan got suspended from school yesterday, seeing as I can't repeat what he said to his teacher on this forum .... use your imagination, about "sticking" a detention somewhere.

Your sythe may well come in handy!

However, on a more serious note, I have a new broom in the making for Samhain. We have a little heath food shop / crystal shop in the village and they have a little sign (hidden away) for new brooms.  No sythe's though.... unfortunately!

Best wishes
Kate. xx

Love it.  It's beautiful!  See you never know what you might find at a yard sale or flea market. : ) I love your hearth & altar.  It's magnificent!  I adore the painting behind you. Hope you can achieve the "hair" as you wish it to be.
