Crazy Lady With Cats

Sorry I haven't been posting much but I have been having a very, very rough week.

On last Saturday I closed the doors of the coven that I've been running for the past 12 years.  It was a very hard decision to make, but it was one that needed to be done.  I am exhausted from the work, Brock is getting ready to move to Atlanta to start a new job, and I needed to have time to work on my own spirituality.  I am gratified that I am leaving behind three daughter covens, including one that began to form locally the very night that Tangled Moon closed its doors for the last time.

Then we found out that a former covenmate who has been battling cancer for several years now has been told that her cancer is spreading to other organs in her body and that she has less than a 10 months to live.  She is a lovely lady with a kind spirit and a wicked sense of humor and she will be sorely missed.  But at this time all we can do is enjoy the time we have left with her and to pray that her end is peaceful.

But the final catastrophe was when one of our dearest and closest friends of the past 20 years died unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on Wednesday.  He was my first teacher, my first initiator, and very dear to my heart.  I spent most of Thursday and Friday trying to help his wife, who is also one of my best friends, deal with the mundanities of arranging a cremation and speaking with the lovely people from the Air Force who made sure that she was very well taken care of.  Thorn was only 57 years old, a wonderful priest, a knight in the SCA, a man who could make you tear your hair out with frustration one minute and who would dry your tears and make you laugh the next.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

So if I seem a bit quieter than usual, that's what's been going on.

I'm so sorry, Lark.  That is a horridly rough week and losing your teacher must be so hard to bear.  We, too, got word of two friends' deaths this week, so I well understand the sense of loss.

I almost can't imagine you without your coven and they were so fortunate to have you.  Leaving three covens behind is certainly a good legacy and I know Thorn would be proud.

Our hearts go out to you. These are extreme upheavals. If there is anything at all we can do, please let us know.

Thanks everyone.  Things are settling down and I've been coming to terms with all of the losses.  Life moves on.
