For the second year in a row, severe drought is leading to severe wildfires in Florida that are killing wildlife, destroying numerous homes, and temporarily closing down highways because of heavy smoke.  And sadly this latest group of fires seems to have been the result of having been deliberately set.  http://news.aol.com/story/_a/wildfires-destroy-homes-in-florida/20080512153509990001

This particular group of fires is perhaps 20 miles from where my mother lives, and others are quite close to Shadow and Jennie.  So some of us are keeping a close eye on the weather and praying for rain.  So keep those in the path of the flames in your thoughts and prayers.  And think rain, rain, rain!

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers, and are pitching our own in the mix.

The wet season is still weeks away, if we even have one this year, so there is no rain in sight. Last year we had so few tropical depressions and storms that we are actually running short on water to fight the fires here in Palm Bay. It is an extremely dangerous situation for the people and animals in this area .

If anyone has an urge to do spellcraft, and I am explicitly NOT making a spell request here, I would recommend focusing on things like protecting the people, animals, and vulnerable native plants in the path of the fires (many of the local native species, particularly pines and palmettos, are fire-adapted, so they don't mind a good burn-off, but others are not), and particularly protecting the firefighters who are attempting to deal with these blazes. We have already had many firefighters injured during these fires. That is where our energy is being directed, anyway. In my experience with the Brevard County area, the rain thing is unlikely to happen in May in any kind of substantial amounts without some serious weather tweaking, and that kind of makes me queasy just thinking about it. The area burning up near Lark's mom , which is quite a ways north of us, might manage it, though.

Thanks again for any energy you send.

Bright blessings,
Jennie

One ship sails East, another West, by the self-same winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sail, and not the gale, that determines the way we will go.
