I spent the day in Nashville quilting with a friend and got home shortly after dark tonight to find a terrified 3-month-old kitten in the driveway.  He was nearly beside himself calling for his mother.  But he finally let me scoop him up and cuddle him..and there is nothing wrong with his purr motor.

He is now esconced in the huge dog crate with a soft bed, fresh litter, and a bit of supper.  He thinks that's a great deal..but the other cats here are dirty and smell funny.

All of our cats are rescues.  We now have eight indoor cats and one porch kitty.  At one time we actually had 17 cats.  Living in the country people will drop their animals along the side of the road.  We pick them up, get them to the vet for shots and neutering, and then they come home and live out their days with us.

We also have a rescued beagle that lives on our back porch.  He's been with us over 10 years, but he was so badly abused by whoever the monster was that had him before us that he simply cannot bring himself to trust us completely.  He absolutely will not let us near enough to pet him.  Yet he knows he's our dog and he'll come running with tail wagging when we get home from work.  It breaks my heart that someone would treat an animal that way.

Speaking of our latest kitten, he isn't a kitten anymore.  He's about six months old now and I really need to take him to the vet soon to have a tuck taken in his cat suit.
