I just got this letter in the mail from one of the teachers at my school that I've never met.  He's a math teacher of all things.

"I have been asked to serve on the staff of the Colorado Ambassadors of Music for their 2008 European tour. This group of high school and college musicians from all over the state of Colorado will present a series of concerts in five European countries during a 16-day period from June 21-July 6, 2008. In the past, European audiences have warmly received these performances, and the participating students gained an educational and musical experiance of a lifetime.

Part of my responsibility is to identify students who have outstanding character, maturity, and musical ability to be considered for an invitation to join the ambassador's 2008 tour. This tour is by invitation only. This letter is to let you know that Mrs. Gilbert has nominated you to be a participant on this trip! You will be receiving your official invitation letter from Mr. and Mrs. Kusk, the Tour Directors, in the mail soon.

I hope that you will join us on this exciting adventure that will give European audiences an opportunity to not only hear great music, but to see the tremendous enthusiasm and spirit of the American teenagers participating. Please look for your invitation in the mail soon."

I still can't breathe.

Kick Ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is fantastic.  I hope you can take advantage of this honor.  Son-the-younger would sacrifice any one of his roommates for a chance like this.

I am.  I'm waiting for the official invitation and all the information, but for an opportunity like this, I'm even willing to take a year off before going to college.

I got this letter hours ago, and I JUST started breathing regularly again.

I participated in that program, gosh, 12 years ago?  I feel so old.  LOL!  It was a lot of fun, but it was a bit of a whirlwind tour, going to 7 countries in only 2 weeks.  My favorite country was Switzerland.  I know I would go back in a heartbeat.  I hope you have fun!  Smiley

Aurora:  We're only hitting five countries on this tour.  I know it will be fast, but it's the opportunity I've been dying for.

Kate: I don't know what the schedule is like, but I'd LOVE to go to London, and even more LOVE to see you there.  I'll let you know when I find something out.

Congrats!!!  My husband was chosen when we were in high school for the Collegiate All-Stars Band (or something like that) which took him on a European tour.  He said it was one of most fun things he's ever done.  I know you're going to love it!

So

It's London
Paris
Switzerland
Austria
A day trip to Italy
Germany

I have to have five hundred dollars in like...20 days...  I'm hoping that with the tips I'm getting from my new job (averaging about $60 a day) and my sparse paychecks, I'll be able to make it...

And then after that, there $4,000 dollars left to go to get there.

I don't know how I'm going to do it yet, but I know I am.  I have to.
