Hey guys,

I suffer from migraines - nightmare! - every so often, and have visited a stall in the shopping centre that sells magnetic therapy bracelets - small bangles with magnets that sit on your pulse points on your wrist. The magnets (bit hazy on the exact here!) generate more iron to move about in your body & help your body release more endorphins to the painful place, or something like that!

Has anyone tried this, or know anything about it? I've read a bit about it on the interweb, but don't know anyonw who's tried it!

I know it may be one of those "doesn't  work for everyone" deals, but I think I would like to give it a go - migraines suck!!

I also have back & neck pain, mainly down to bad posture I think (ridiculous, I've been doing ballet since I was 3), and attributed migraines to my diet for a while - however, for example, I can drink a bottle of red wine and be fine (well, drunk, but no headache) and at other times have one gulp and I'm lying in a dark room with a cold flannel on my head within minutes.

Any advice would be great, thankyou in advance.

I suggest that you find a good acupuncturist who is also familiar with Chinese herbs.

The little magnet bracelets stimulate two acupuncture points on the wrist - the source points for the heart meridian and the lung meridian. The little magnet bracelets work primarily for people who happen to need those two points treated. Migraine sufferers are not necessarily in that class.

I used to have terrible migraines, but the resolved quickly with Chinese medicine and haven't been a problem for years.

Best of luck,

Bright blessings,
Jennie

I know some people who swear by the magnet bracelets. I can't see why they'd work (it seems a bit like a placebo), but, like I said, I know people who say they do.

Jenni, thankyou for the advice - I have been remarkably efficient (for me!) & found a place not too far from home, with a guy who does acupuncture and Chinese med - at $55(aus) a session & will probably take several sessions, I know it won't come cheap!! but I'm going to have a good old think, so thankyou, it's reasuring to get advice from someone who knows first hand that it's worth it  Very Happy

I was a bit wary about the bracelets, thinking it was more of a placebo thing too  :?

Jennie liked it som much she bought the company.

She got interested in acupuncture when her health insurance was cancelled. It tookk a few years but she finally got into school and became one of the best acupuncturists around. So, she knows about it from both sides of the needle.
