My budgie got sick the other week, and everyday I prayed to the Goddess to keep him safe and make him better. Yesterday he died and I curse Her. I feel betrayed by Her, that She didn't help him, he didn't deserve to die.

Im know what some people are going to say, She can't help everyone and you have to give something back to Her. But I don't see why she couldn't choose him, I just don't understand.

And now I am questioning my belief in Her  :x Which hurts me just as much as my budgie dying. It just hurts a lot and I am unsure as to how to handle it, I am so lost.

Anything born comes with a death sentence.

If your faith in the Divine is broken over such a basic concept holding true, then there wasn't much faith to begin with.

Suck it up and deal, alright?

In times of difficulty, look in the mirror.

It is likely you will see the cause as well as the solution.

I second Red - we're born, we die, the bit in the middle is another matter.

Remember the Dark Goddess is the Goddess too.

It was the same when my gerbil died, but it was time, though I was still sad... just nothing we can do when it's time!

It sounds like he had a good life, be happy about that!

I know that death can be hard, but it is as vital a part of existence as life.

To me, this is less an issue of faith, and more an issue of belief. You have to ask yourself whether you believe the divine is the type that will work FOR you, or the type that will work WITH you.

The fact that your prayers, apparently, fell on deaf ears can either tell you that she isn't there, or that she works in a different way to what you thought she did, and knows that when it's someone's time, it's their time.

Thankyou, now I do understand. Although it may be unfair, it was his time and maybe it didn't fall of deaf ears it was just out of Her hands.

I realised that I was just grieveing, even though he was just a bird, he meant a lot to me. Thanks to all who responded.

I'm glad you're moving on.  I have not yet had the misfortune of losing someone close to me, so I can scarcely imagine what it's like.

Don't feel bad about grieving for a bird.  Sometimes I still feel sad about my old border collie, and she isn't even dead; we had to give her away.
