Hello everyone!
Been a little while since I've dropped by, I do appologise.    Baby's still not here yet .... she's obviously decided to 'cook' a little longer. I ended up in hospital on Friday because me feet swelled up and me eyes went blurry ..... but they couldn't find anything wrong so they let me out (thankfully). I'm not good with hospitals.  The crib has arrived and so has the pram/car seat etc. She has more clothes than all of us put together and I'm well stocked up with everything.    Luckily, Jons Mums finally given up on buying hideous pink garments and there's been no more heated discussions about how I should bring up my daughter.
I also got myself back at college and that seems to be going well. I should pass level 1 by end of November. And Ryan did a really good Religious Education project ...... so thank you for all your help with that.     Well, I'm going to get myself dressed then have a look around the board and catch up with everyone. If anyone has any ideas for helping swollen feet ......   I'd be grateful.
Blessings.........    Kate. xx

Swollen feet.. Rest, rest and rest.... With your feet UP. Some gentle massage of your lower legs may also help.

Don't be tempted to cut down on fluid intake or take diuretics (which some wives tales surgest) as this can cause more harm to you/baby than good. Actually in general (as you know) take care of any thing that you do/take.

And make sure the medico's are keeping an eye on your Blood Pressure, as swollen feet can be a sign of problems.

Good luck... how long to go now... approx?

Indeed, rest is the best thing for your feet, whether they're swollen or not.  It's recommended that at least once a week you let them rest while propped up, especially if you're often on your feet.

I'm glad to hear that the family situation has cooled down.  Good luck.  Cool

Glad to see you back.  I had wondered how you and the incipient Katelet were doing.

I'm glad too that things are better with the family.  And if your Mum gives you any more headaches right now remind her that stress is bad for your blood pressure and hence for the baby and maybe that will back her off.

Congratulations on going back to school.  I've been thoroughly enjoying my Pastoral Counseling courses I'm taking.  But I'm now learning the real meaning of "no spare time".

Keep well, rest and keep those feet up.  Healthy, happy baby thoughts coming your way.

May not be what's up with you, but when I was pregnant with the Rabbit, I had horribly swollen feet. The midwife told me that it was because I was dehydrated and to drink more water. I don't know if that will help because I went into labor shortly after that and it became irrelevant.  Shocked

Hello All,
Don't worry I am deffinately resting.   And my blood pressure is low to normal.   The docs think that I actually have too much blood floating around at the moment and that is causing pressure behind my eyes making them go blurry.

As for my due date ........  by my dates she should be due at the end of the week, by the hospital dates I've got another 3 weeks !!!
Apparently, I fell pregnant right at the end of February rather than at the begining.

We're all getting impatient now as we can't wait to meet her.

Thank you for all your thoughts.     Love Kate. xx

I really hope I'm not getting too intimate here, but according to Sue Johansen, hostess of Talk Sex and RN, says that is permissable at this late in the pregnancy to have intercourse in order to induce labor.  Just a thought.

I was told that when I was two weeks over due, my husband got really upset with my midwife over that one! I didn't let him sleep for a week because I was tired of being pregnant and it didnt' help, I still had to be induced! LOL

as for the swollen feet, you could try to decrease your salt/sodium intake, as this causes the body to retain water. And yes keep your feet up! Also soaking your feet can help as well and support stockings.

Glad the family has simmered down for you. Best of luck!

All thats managed to do is give me back-ache from hell.

The reason it induces labour is that the hormones in a mans sperm are the same hormones that start labour off and the gel that the hospitals sometimes use to induce a baby are based on them too.

Thinking about it, a hot curry started me off with Ryan ...... might be getting a take out this weekend !!!!

I keep having lots of Braxton Hicks (practice contractions) which are often quite strong and as its been so long since I had Ryan I'm a bit worried that I wont notice what are real and what are practice ones........ and I've got a long way to get to the hospital through lots of country lanes and tracks.

That's true.  I've also heard that the act of having an orgasm causes the uterus to contract, and therefore it might break the amniotic sac.  Of course in that light, simple masturbation could work.
