sorry i didnt quite understand that last statement above me, and i guess the one above that.  Too many big words i guess. I feel a little idiotic, but that was above me.  Sorry, could you explain a little more in depth, in "dummy" terms I guess.  Thank you all for your opinions... I am not sure yet what mine is, my mind changes so many times.

The question:

Quote
that's a good point redronin.

but what are nature's "laws", anyway?

The answer:
Quote
Anything in nature that the ignoring of will result in severe adverse involuntary bodily modification classifies.

For example:  Gravity is a law.  Attempting to ignore or violate that law without artificial assistance, say..........  stepping off a cliff and thinking you're going to just hang in mid air like a cartoon character..........  well, it's just gonna hurt.

Action vs. reaction falls under this catetory, as do numerous others.[/quote]

In times of difficulty, look in the mirror.

It is likely you will see the cause as well as the solution.

My opinion of telekinesis?  It's a massive waste of time and energy.  It would take incredible amounts of energy just to levitate a pencil an inch off the ground, when you could just pick up the damn thing and not break a sweat.  I tend to be a practical witch.  I use magic only when I have to, when all mundane solutions have been exhausted.  To spend days, weeks or years trying to levitate a pencil or push a pin on a string seems like foolishness to me.  Why not dedicate that time and energy to something more worthwhile?

I wouldn't categorically state that I think it would be impossible.  Definitely unlikely, but not impossible.  I'm pretty sure that I believe in poltergeist activity, and that would involve the immaterial moving the material.

Also I remember my science teacher once saying that because all solid things are made of moving particles is is technically possible for something like a table to jump or move of its own volition.  Maybe this could be encouraged?!!!! (This is a vaguely connected aside, poorly explained and possibly rubbish.)

So, in conclusion as much as I would love the idea of 'summoning' the cookie jar to me as I slob on the sofa I guess it's unlikely.  Shame that.

Still...stranger things have happened...
