This thread is where folks can lay out their beliefs about anything they like. If you want to share your religion/spirituality with us, this is where you can. Feel free to make your post as long as you like. It can cover things from how to make a proper cup of tea to visions of the afterlife.

Have at it folks  Smiley

May I suggest a variation to this thread:

*dramatic music*
It is known on Hipforums as a "flyology" (after it's creator, "The Fly").
*dramatic music cuts with a record screethingy sort of sound*

Well it was, Fly left and someone's restarted it as a tribute but under the name Karma Kafe!

Basically, the idea is people say to whatever extent they feel like "This is me!" and then everyone else challenges, asks questions and generally gets the person being Flyologised to explore themselves.

Questions can be as silly or serious as they like. Thing is, trying to say "this is what I believe" is very very difficult, even for someone who's pretty outspoken and has pretty clear beliefs.

It's really enlightening, both from a self-exploration point of view and from the point of view of learning about those you share space with!

If it was up to me I would start a whole sub-forum for it! It is an amazingly good game and I think every forum should have it. In fact I think I'll add a subforum for it on my band's forum!

Much Love

I've just read Sebbi's post and while its a good idea, I think it could get out of hand with everyone bouncing back comments and questions directed back at that person...... not to mention that one or two could become quite hurtfull.

I'm voting to stick with Larks original idea.

Here's one ........    Why can't people be nice when they are out shopping ?     Even the shop assistants can be rude and unhelpful.

I went out with Jon on Saturday to buy the pram and crib for baby, bare in mind, we were intending to spend quite a lot of money and the assistants were terrible. I ended up walking out of the store and finding both things else where.
Then, as we'd had a long drive we decided to get the grocery shopping on the way home, save going back out again Sunday and had to put up with rude, crappy people shopping in the supermarket.     Okay, shopping is a bit of a boring necessity but if everyone was just a little bit nicer it would make it more pleasant.

I believe the universe rearranges itself to conform to our individual beliefs.

I believe that I don't know much!

But from my own personal experiences, I do believe that there is Spirit which can be felt distinctly as God and Goddess.

I believe that all animals (people included) and plants have their own unique energies/souls/whatever. They can be used by Spirit/God/Goddess to communicate with us.

I believe in the possibility that in the unknown and unseen realm (spirit realm?) there are many spirits which have evolved themselves over the years to be as diverse in "size" or purpose as the life forms on Earth (example: fairies, gnomes, angels, local dieties, etc).

I believe that it is very possible that the energies that we as humans have put into local dieties have helped them evolve to a "higher state" themselves. (It's not too likely that they were sitting around with the prokaryotes and eukaryotes 4 billion years ago waiting for us to evolve!) I do believe that Spirit started and oversaw the evolution of life as it is presently.

My beliefs are numerous and complex. I'm not sure if I could explain all of them. I'll attempt to when I have time.

I believe belief is irrelevant.... Deep reality is either constantly changing or unreachable to our perceptions.  I believe maybe there is a deep reality.

I have tried to have a crack at sharing my beliefs, but every time I type I believe... I can't help but finish with 'the children are our future'. :?

I'm sure this silly mood will pass.  Sorry.  As you were.

Okay, I'm going to try to describe some of my beliefs.

Cycles of Nature

I believe that nature works in cycles. The Earth orbits the Sun passing closer at some points, further away at others, causing the cycle seasons. The Moon orbits the Earth passing through different phases, and the Earth rotates on its axis causing night and day.

Life on this planet has adapted so that it is in tune with these cycles, and they are also the basis for our perception of time. I also believe in reincarnation, which is another example of a cycle.

Life in Layers

I believe that all life exists on three levels. The physical level is the one we perceive now, the spiritual (for want of a better word) is the level on which our spirits exist, and the ethereal (again for want of a better word) overlaps the two.

The spirit, in my view, is the part of the self that contains the personality and deeper emotions (as opposed to those emotions, such as moods, controlled hormonally). The spirit is linked to the physical via an 'energy' field on the ethereal layer (what people might call the aura).

During life, the physical body is active, and the ethereal and spirit are anchored to it. When a person dies, the link is broken, and the spirit is active.

The Divine

I see the divine as the essential life force of all living things. It's kind of hard to explain exactly.

Free Will Vs Destiny

I believe in free will rather than destiny. I think it's only possible to predict what MIGHT happen rather than what WILL happen (when I give tarot readings I see any reference to the future as the outcome of events if things continue as they are), and that each decision we make changes the future.

Magic

I also believe in magic as the directing and channeling of ethereal energy towards a goal.

Gender

Gender is an a feature found only in the physical realm, and the spirit itself doesn't have gender or sexual preferences. One incarnation you could be a man, and in the other you could be a woman. I see the instances where people feel they're the wrong gender as the spirit clinging to a previous incarnation's gender.

Morality

Everyone is responsible for their own actions and the resulting consequences. Anything you do comes back to you, one way or another. Unless someone's actions affect others, it's down to their own morals. I believe that there shouldn't be any laws made to prohibit things that will only directly affect the person or people performing the actions.

On a very simplistic level, it's fair enough to make a law about murder, but to make a law preventing people from smoking is infringing on their freedom of choice.

Nothing is purely good or evil, only shades between.
