For the past 3 nights we've had some amazing storms, I sat up with Ryan watching the sky last night.    Our village is settled between the North and South Downs so the storms tend to gather right above us.  We couldn't even see the cottage opposite because it was raining so hard. It was great to watch the sky lighting up.

There's Acorns everywhere, berries on all the bushes ......   the wheel of the year is slowly turning again.

I can't wait till there's frost on the leaves when I wake up in the mornings.

Here in Tennessee you can see the changes as well.

The sycamores are turning golden and the linden are already dropping their leaves.  Now when I go out in the morning the air is actually cool and fresh.  And the days are obviously growing shorter.  Many of the summer birds are already gone or going.  And pretty soon we'll see the wild geese winging south.

Fall comes slower here in the South..but it comes nonetheless.

Here in the midwest, summer lingers a bit longer, sometimes nearly til the end of October.  The leaves haven't changed yet, but the weather has cooled off, thankfully, and that smell that comes with a season's end wafts through the air in the evening.

Erm....I didn't think West Virginia was in the midwest Tongue

Here in the Pacific Northwest, it's gotten cooler, there's the smell of fireplaces and spice in the air.  The japanese maples are starting to go violent deep purple, plums are almost past harvest time and they've got the Christmas music and decorations in BigLots...

Yes, I said CHRISTMAS decorations....And my 6 year old astutely noticed "It's not even good into september Mom...not even FALL yet..we haven't had the equinox....and they're selling christmas stuff?@!?!?!?!?!?"

*sigh*

I've heard it called the "Christmas Creep" where slowly but surely snowmen wearing santa hats and elves building toys take over and smother all of Commercialdom... and it's coming earlier and earlier every year!

Basically, every store wants to be the first to put out the Christmas stuff so that they can make mor money off of it than the other guy

We're getting some chilly mornings in SW England already.  I can't wait until the cold makes my nose pink on the way to work, and the leaves go all crunchy underfoot.

I love autumn, it's truely a perfect excuse for wearing stupid hats and fluffy scarves, and for drinking more tea than is strictly necessary!

You're right, actually.  Part of the reason I said midwest was because I'm originally from Ohio, which is the midwest, and I'm still used to saying that.  The other reason is because the town I live in is right on the Ohio/West Virginia border, so it may as well be the midwest.

Ahh..Gotcha! Smiley  Maybe that's why I flunked geography though, cause I didn't realize West Virginia was close to Ohio... *shrug*..

I'm such a loser! Smiley
