I thought it seems worth starting an interesting thread to liven things up a bit.

So, how did everyone find their paths originally even if it's not witchcraft?

Much Love

I was introduced to someone in school who was a Wiccan when I was a freshman.  It sounded interesting so I read some websites and the rest is history.

My dad used to read me Norse myths as bedtime stories. I loved hearing about them, and have quite a few books on Norse mythology and Scandanavian legends.

When I was younger I used to go to Sunday school at my family's church. Christianity never made sense to me. I remember, one Sunday, after our teacher read us an excerpt from the Bible, I stood up and said "But that's not how it is." I think that was my last day of sunday school.

I always believed in some higher form, even some form of a god, just not the version Christianity puts forward. I believed that if there was a god, he would be more like Odin. I started to gain an interest in paranormal events after finding a Ouiji board in a friend's basement when I was eight, I think. I always believed in ghosts, and magic. I have also been very close to nature and animals, I could feel a power in them.

It wasn't until after I'd become close friends with who is now my Sister, that I began to organize my beliefs into a path. My friend shared my ideas and we formed a coven, of sorts and started researching. But to be honest, I've never had to research much. It feels so natural, like I'm tapping into a part of me that has remained mostly dormant throughout my earlier life.

I think I drew myself into witchcraft, not my life as I live it now, but aspects of my past lives surfacing and guiding me.

About the time I started to think seriously about paganism, I started to remember a saying my father used to tell me before I went to bed. "Cattle die, kinsmen die. You, yourself, will likewise die." One day I asked him why he used to tell me that, since it is a bit morbid to tell a young child as a bedtime lesson. He'd never heard of it before, thought it was the most absurd thing that I would pretend he used to tell me that. As I started to learn about my past lives, I realized that my father indeed used to tell me that. My father from one of my many past lives. It's little things like that, that drew me to a search for spirituality, and ultimately, to the path I walk today.

I remember being about 14 and being refused certain books in the local library so my Dad had to get them out for me, that was the starting interest. Then I met a friend of a friend who practiced the darker side of it so when I expressed an interest in Paganism, she introduced me to a guy who initialy taught me.  About 2 years later we all went our separate ways and I continued to practice alone and thats the way its been ever since.

I kind of eased into it slowley, it has been an interest over many years.    I do't advertise my beliefs and I tend not enter into any debates about religion in my social circles.   My beliefs are personal to me.

My mother was raise in the Roman Catholic faith, and my Dad is an atheist, his theory is - 'if you can prove it then I will believe it.'  I have never had any opposition from either parent, so I'm very lucky in that respect.

I spent the night at my girlfriend's house one night. At some point, we went on the internet together and she showed me a website about what must have been Wicca.

I didn't really read much on there, but she explained to me that this was a path that revered and respected Nature and believed in both a God and Goddess.  Immediately (although I was a Baptist!) I felt that pull towards this religion--it just felt right.

So I started to look more into that and other religions. That was the start of a beautiful spiritual path for me!

I've been reviewing different religions since I was very young.  For some time, I was an atheist.

Then I figured to myself that I really didn't know anything deep about "spirituality" or "religion", and if there was anything that I would try out then it would be buddhism.

So I studied for some time, but somehow it did not feel right.  My father is involved in masonry and other things, so I looked a bit into that.  So one thing lead to another, I went from studying what Masons were all about, their roots, later rosicrusians, and then I found myself with a lot of stuff that I had no idea existed.

It was really puzzling because since I was new to this type of occult material I had no idea on how to understand what I was finding.

Finally, after some web browsing I found some information on Wicca and other types of Witchcraft, and I thought "this actually exists. how cool!"  Naturally, I went into it at first with an 85% of skepticism, but as things started making sense.  I started practicing, then met other people working on this and I found that there was a lot of very interesting and eye-popping material to study and a community of people eager to learn and create things.    I think I've never stopped since.   I don't remember how I was before I started.

In middle school we did a unit in English class on the greek and roman myths, I was totally enthralled. I always knew that witches were real, I can't explain how, but I always knew I was meant to go here. As I got older I started going to the new age section of waldenbooks, and when I was 19 I found a store called keepers of the moon garden. I was instantly drawn to it, I had to go in there I could explain it but I had to so I went in and talked to the owner of the store who just happened to be wiccan and I asked her questions and she reccomended books for me to read at first, I kept comming back(I would buy a  book like every payday) and I would ask her about things I had read in the books, eventually she agreed to teach me and now here I am
