I have been having a good clear out, making room for babys' crib etc and I came across my box that I have my tarot cards in.   They are about 11 years old and moved house with me several times but I haven't used them in about 3 years.    They really don't feel 'right' at the moment, so I have packed them away again. I don't know whether its the fact that they haven't been used or if its just me.      Does anyone cleanse their cards or have any ideas of what I can do with them to help them feel more comfortable to me.  I've not had this problem before so I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

What I do is cleanse them by Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Spirit/God/Goddess to get rid of all of the clinging positive/negative energies. I then keep them by my bed or on my altar for a few nights. That way, my energies and the deck's energies "get familiar" with each other.

They usually feel quite ambient after that!

If I use a deck for readings especially for folks I don't know well, or if there energy just doesn't feel right, I will smudge my deck with white sage when I have finished the reading, also I periodically smudge my deck just because I feel it's time. Hope this helps.

While I don't have tarot cards I do use runes as an oracle. To bring them up to speed I have a little ritual where I expose them to full moonlight, then clear sunlight then sleep with them... I find that works quite well.
I have also in turn exposed them to the four elements when I first got them to clense and refresh them. To personalise them at that point I made an anointing oil and went through each one, rubbing it and willing it to work for me.

Hope that helps some

I have about 11 decks myself, only some of which i use, but i keep them all aligned energy-wise.

I have each of them wrapped in a special cloth picked out for each particular deck. I cleanse them after every reading by organizing the cards, first by righting them all, then I sort them out into their suits and put them in the right order.

when they're all organized, i like to balance the energy of the stack by stacking them in this order: Major arcana, Pentacles, Cups, (respective air element), (respective fire element). My reasoning is this: Elements have their opposites Earth and Air; Fire and Water. They also have their supporting elements: Earth and Water; Fire and Air. Earth needs water to flourish and fire needs air to burn. (Likewise with Earth and Fire; Water and Air, in this case the one element controls the other). So I place them in that order so that the elements are never next to their opposing force, but rather by the force that sustains and controls them.

To realign the energy to myself, I sleep with the deck under my pillow. This way, my personal energy can be absorbed by the cards. And unlike the energy you direct into the cards by consecrating them in ritual, the cards absorb all your diferent forms and types of energy, even your negative energy. How else can the cards give you an accurate reading if they are biased in their energy?

Of course, these things are just personal preferances. The main thing is what you do that makes *you* believe that the energy is cleansed and aligned. If you have any doubt in the energy, then it is tainted.

Blessing them in a ritual, annointing them with oil, leaving them under the light of the full moon, holding them in the smoke of sandalwood incense--these are all good ways of cleansing your deck.

Thank you for all your advice.     I'll cleanse them this weekend and keep them beside the bed for a few days. I'll also sort them  into some sort of order as they are all over the place.
And I've found a carved wooden box to keep them in.

I must admit, when I have used them in the past, they were very very accurate.   On one occasion I did two readings, each on different days for a man and his wife (both were having affairs) and the cards drawn were almost exactly the same.

Remember also, that part of what you could be feeling comes from the fact that you are carrying another person inside of you right now.  Your energy and baby's are mingled and that, while it can make you stronger (I remember Jennie working out in Aikido while she was pregnant.  Her ki was stronger than ever and the other folks would joke that she was gangning up on them.) it certainly will affect the way you see the world energetically.

Cleanse the cards but I wouldn't worry too much about them until after the baby is born.

Whenever I feel the need to cleanse my cards, I always rearrange them back into order and perform a small "exorcism" by simply holding my hands over them and channelling powerful purifying energies into them.  And I always keep them wrapped in black cloth to keep negative vibrations off of them when not in use.
