a story and a request

Alright, I've got an odd little story to share, and I'd appriciate any thoughts on it.

Last week I decided I wanted to have a circle during the full moon to ask the Goddess for guidance. So I took my bath, got ready, and cleansed myself of my own negative energy. I felt very positive, and went outside to do my circle. However, as soon as I opened up the circle, I felt a horrible feeling of dread. I started to panic, closed the circle and apologized to the Goddess, then went back inside. I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong or whether I had done anything different...I have never felt uncomfortable in a circle before. The only factor that had been different was the fact that I had my best friend/ex boyfriend's lock on my person during the circle. It is something that he gave me two days earlier, and before that, hadn't taken off of a chain around his neck in more than a year. I had been wearing it around my neck, and forgotten about it. I quickly took it off and set it aside, but the negative energy didn't go away.

I started to worry and wonder if maybe something had happened to him, so I gave him a call. It was around 12:30am, and he picked up and we started to talk about things. He told me that he was fine and nothing was wrong, however, we both made a connection to his father's side of the family. His father's side is extremely spiritual [ie. his father can interact with spirits], and Benjamin suggested that maybe I was getting negative energy simply because it was something that belonged to him and had been on him for so long.

Well, at this point, I felt so sick to my stomach that I couldn't relax. He offered to drive over and see if he could help me out, which he did. He took his lock back, held onto it for a little while, unlocked it, then gave it back to me. The negative vibes were gone. I was then advised not to take any of his things into a circle again, be it accidental or not.

This was over a week ago, and I've felt fine since then. I've even started wearing the lock around my neck again, as I feel no reason that it would not be OK. It was just...a very odd situation that I felt I would reflect on here and get some opinions on, perhaps.

Also, while I'm at it, I would really appreciate it if you would send any extra prayers or positive energy towards both Benjamin and I as individuals. Things have been very painful between the two of us for a few months, and it really does feel to me like he's destroying a large part of himself; I worry about him a lot. The situation itself is very gritty and complex, so I won't go into it, but that's what it basically boils down to. My gut tells me that I need to just let him be to sort things out on his own for a while, and that eventually things will heal themselves between as as they always do...but that doesn't stop me from being human and worrying about/missing someone who is very dear to me. So I would really appreciate it if you kept both of us in your prayers and sent some positive energy our way; for him to find the strength within himself to be OK, and for me to find the strength to deal with this current situation.

Sounds like psychometry to me, ie, picking up psychic vibrations through touch.  It doesn't necessarily mean that something bad is going to happen to Benjamin, but perhaps that the lock was somewhere near a bad event that happened in the past.  I think perhaps that while casting your circle, your subconscious mind was awakened, readying itself for ritual and it picked up on this "psychic garbage" that seems to be attached to the lock.

I would suggest finding out for sure, then performing a purification on the lock to prevent it from making trouble for your or anyone else again.

any ideas on why the "negative energy" was gone just after he unlocked it?

I don't know that this would make any sense or not, but here's the random thought that came into my mind as I read your story:

Maybe  the negative energies that you cleansed from yourself collected in the lock, and were then released when the lock was opened.

The if or why or how I wouldn't know, and it is entirely possible I just read too much fantasy, but that is what occurred to me.

The knot is a representation of something bound or contained.  The untying is like a release.  Maybe it was some sort of unconscious magical work.

A lock is just that, made for the sole purpose of locking something, keeping something contained in something else.

So, if you're like me and believe that everything has its own energy (afterall everything has an aura), then, the energy of the lock would be that of containing, of locking things inside.

When you cleansed yourself (I'm assuming you didn't take the lock off when you did this), the lock's energy picked up your negative energy and did what its purposed to do--locked it in.

By releasing the lock, opening its circle, you unlocked its energy, thereby releasing all the energy it contained.

Anyway, makes sense to me, but I might be the only one--its is my mind afterall, and well, that can be a scary place.  :wink:

Actually, that's what the two of us had been thinking after we talked about it. Since he unlocked it, he was breaking the circle, and thus releasing the energy.

And the idea about the negative energy collecting in the lock and then being released was something that I hadn't thought of, but actually makes a lot of sense to me, because I hadn't taken it off when I was cleansing myself.
