I came across this on another site. It' s very disturbing. I'm at a lose for words.
This baptist group is actually doing Witch Hunts. I can't believe this is happening in this day and age.

Dragonfly, I'm afraid you've been had, as they say. The Landover Baptist Church website is a well-known satire site, the religious equivalent of The Onion.

From its Wikipedia entry:
Quote
Landover Baptist Church is a satirical web site that serves as the home of a fictional Baptist church based in the fictional town of Freehold, Iowa. The Landover Baptist site and its associated Landoverbaptist.NET forum is a parody of fundamentalist Christianity and the religious right in the United States of America.

The site proclaims, for example, that the King James Bible as written is the literal word of God. It also has beliefs unique to its church; for example, that holding different religious beliefs from those endorsed by Landover Baptist is grounds for being damned to Hell (a parody of Westboro Baptist Church, the congregation of noted anti-gay activist Fred Phelps, who believes that opposing his church and its members is grounds for damnation); that sissy boys should wear signs that say "I'm a Sissy Boy Who Plays With Dolls"; that men who wear thin, colored underwear are either European or homosexual, "and in America there is no difference between the two"; that the spherical Earth model was a hoax perpetrated by "someone in a communist rocket ship"; and that George W. Bush was appointed directly by God to the office of President of the United States of America to do battle with heathens and other un-American individuals. . . .

The website also has its own giftshop for the purchase of "Christian" products (such as thongs and bumper stickers promoting the church, even gifts for the "unwelcome heathens"), as well as a section that features hate mail from people who have been offended by the material on the site. While some letters are from individuals who do not realize that the site is a parody, others are from people who are offended by the site's portrayal of fundamentalist Christianity. . . .

No part of the site was meant to be taken seriously. There is even a link at the bottom of every page that brings you to the Terms of Service. It states "Landover Baptist Church is a complete work of fiction. It is a satire/parody."

you'll find it's a type of joke...

The web site is meant to be a joke.

Landover Baptist is a fictional "church" that was created to make fun of fundamentalist Christianity.  And when I say 'fundamentalist Christianity' here, I mean the little old ladies who think we should all be back in the 1800's type of fundamentalist Christianity.

If you explore their website, you will find all kinds of crazy articles about many different topics.  Absolutely nothing on that website is meant to be taken seriously.  It's written to be offensive.  It's written to be funny.  And, as Sewa Yoleme says, there is a disclaimer on their website that says it's a parody.

I didn't realise it was "fake" when I read that article - which I'm glad about, because as I was reading it I was both horrified, yet thinking, "is this a joke? It has to be...but oh god what if it isn't?!"

Fun. Ny. Will have to check out more of their site!!

Generally, if it seems too stupid to be true, it is.  Take a look at some of the pictures of the people who supposedly belong to that church.  Have you ever seen such ugly and ridiculous looking people in your life?  Obviously photoshopped to emphasize the stupidity of some fundamentalist Christians.  But don't worry.  That site fooled me too a few years ago.  Now I look in once in a while for a good laugh.

If you check around the web site they go at everyone who isn't baptist. They seem to love to have a go at President Bush. Very Happy
My daughter wants to know why they didn't have Wiccans flying on broomsticks in the description. Flying Witch

Landover Baptist is a masterpiece.

Find a link there for Betty Bowers and you'll really laugh yourself sick.

She's a hoot.
