the summerlands

most wiccans believe in the summerlands, a place to rest between lives.

but as wicca is about balance...so you think there are the winterlands too?

what do you believe about the afterlife?

Some people see the Winterland as where you go to review the mistakes you made in your previous lifetime.  The trouble with this is that some people see the Summerland and Winterland system as carbon copies of Heaven and Hell.

Another problem is that the Summerland is often called such because a lot of people feel that a land of eternal summer is a welcoming and pleasant way to view the afterlife.  As for me, I can't stand summer.  I hate heat and prefer cold, cloudy days.  As such, I see the "Summerland" as a moonlit field.

The Summerland could be just seen as a name, rather than a direct comparison to the season of Summer.

what do you believe about the afterlife?

I personally steer clear of most terminology because I prefer to define my own beliefs. I believe in a single after life that is a resting point between incarnations. The balance that occurs in my ideology is between this 'spirit' realm and the 'physical' realm.
