Here's some links to articles on Hestia.  Google is full of them, you might want to make a bit of effort and go searching there.

http://www.pantheon.org/articles/h/hestia.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hestia
http://web.uvic.ca/grs/bowman/myth/gods/hestia.html

As to how one relates to one's Patron, that is wholly between the Patron and the individual.  Each of us experiences our Patrons differently, and they have different lessons to teach each of us.  So only you will know how you relate to Hestia.

Several friends of mine have worked with several different Goddesses that demanded huge life changes. If I remember correctly among those were Pele, Hecate and Inanna.

I also handed my life over to the Lady, but at that time She was "un-named" since I don't usually call to one specific Goddess. (Recently I have been drawn to the Dark Goddesses, most likely because of the time of life I am entering.) That was 9 years ago. The life I had 9 years ago has so drastically changed that the life I have now is not even recognizable as the same person's. I do not regret handing my life over, but there were times I wanted to stop the ride and get off!
