Hello all!

It has been a while since my original post and thought that you might be interested in the progress that my mum and I have made.  I would have liked to have posted this with my original post...but it was locked.  ^_^  You see my predicament then....

Anyway, roughly two weeks after I posted the tension in my household had reached an all time high.  My mum was still angry with me (to say the least), I was still hurt and rather upset, and my father was (wisely) staying clear of the both of us.  This insanity went on for a while before I began to lose my mind.  The tense silence was just too much and I exploded.  I started ranting and generally behaving like a toddler now that I look back on it.  However my mum shot right back at me and we had a shouting contest that lasted a good 10 minutes before our throats finally grew sore.

As we both let off the last of our steam I asked her if she would just give me the chance to explain myself and the books that were in my room.  She was not willing at first, but I was able to wear her down.  We had a long, in depth conversation about the books in my room, the reason she was angry, and why she felt that The Path was not something I should be studying.  I then explained to her exactly what I had been studying, what it all meant, and that it was not indeed satan worship.

Roughly three and a half hours later we came to a sort of truce.  I would go to church twice a month (also including Christmas and Easter) and she would allow me to read up on certain aspects of The Path.  As long as I was not "doing that witchy stuff" in her household, she said she could live with it.  She just didn't want it to become the topic of conversation at the dinner table.

*sighs deeply*  I am honestly rather surprised that she was so leniant when it came to our truce making, though happy none the less.  We don't discuss "it" any longer and I still go to church, which makes my mum happy.

I just wanted to thank you all for putting up with me and my teenage ramblings.

Thank you again!

That's me my mother and I have come to.  I've been going to church whenever I can wake up early enough, and she lets me read and believe what I want to.  It works, sometimes, we still have our spats, but it's better than being secretive about it.

Thats really very good news.    When we live under our parents roof we have to abide by their rules and when we're young we see this as so unfair.  I was very lucky that my parents allowed me to believe whatever I wanted to as long as it didn't hurt anyone, but we had more than our fair share of shouting matches about other things.  We still do and I havent lived at home for years !    I did move back for a year while I was studying and all the rules still applied, eventhough I was 19.  Its all about respect, and your Mum obviously respects your beliefs to an extent and you respect her because you've approached the subject and come to a truce.  I still get asked to go to church at Christmas, and I find it quite relaxing and peaceful, though I think she still expects me to be struck down during the service.   A little bit of give and take on both sides works wonders.   Good luck with all your studies and enjoy it.
