Since this is the room for crones and Sages I have a question that I might get a better answer from someone of more experience. So here is my question: what symbol do you think is best for protection?

I prefer the Louisville Slugger.

That depends ... protection from what?

That depends...what path do you follow? What pantheon, if any, do you work with?

It depends on a lot of other things, as well, but this would get a discussion started, at least. Just be careful it doesn't stray into spell request land...

Bright blessings,

I was going to say "Beware of Rottweiller"...

I was always partial to Mossburg, myself.  Nothing says "You just broke into the wrong house like the sound of a 12 guage pump being cocked".

Hi Newbie,

Jennis is right...a lot would depend on which path and which pantheon you follow....and it would depend on what you are trying to protect.  What I would use to protect my home or myself is different from what I might use to protect my car from being stolen.

If I were following a Norse path I might use a rune of protection as a symbol, or perhaps a Thor's hammer.

For someone who follows Voudoun it would be a totally different set of symbols.

And for a Egyptian Recon it would vary yet again.  I knew an occult shop in London that stopped shoplifting when they put a 5' tall figure of Anubis in the middle of their shop.

As a Wiccan, my home and my person are heavily shielded against things which do not have our good interests at heart.  But there are no symbols involved, just energy work.

It is possible to construct any number of protective talismans, or to charge items to become protective symbols.

Perhaps if you would explain a bit more about what you are trying to accomplish we can point you at more specific information to answer your question.
