I certainly believe it's possible.  I've never done it, but I believe I've come close a few times.

As for how, I would personally like to know what skills you currently have before I start throwing out sources.  You may be a long way from having the skills necessary to do it.  I'd hate to see you waste your time.

I agree with qadesa. Personally, I have never done it but I am working on getting there. It takes a lot of work so if you want to undertake this journey make sure that you are willing to work for it.

Yes, it is real.  As for how to do it...practice.

There are lots of books and articles on the subject which can give you ideas of how to practice and describe the process.  Good luck with it.

Anything is possible.

You can do anything but not everything.

I believe you could do it but you've got a long way to get there (the shortcut involves narcotics - for chrisake don't go down that route, it WILL screw you up).

Remember - a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step - you have to start where you are. Where you are probably (nothing personal, I'm talking about "most people" when I say this) means a dull awareness of your physical reality (what's going on AND how you interact). Thats a long way off from acute awareness of physical, emotional, spiritual, astral, etheric and whateverelseyoucaretoname realities. On the other forum lots of people say "How do I have out of body experiences?" I say "Have in body experiences first."

Blessings

I've had a pretty intense experience lately.  I was doing an ''exercice'' with my new pentacle my teachers asked me to do.  I had to send a nice ''hello, I love you'' to someone special.  I did a little more than I was asked to and got almost an instant reply (it took about 30 minutes).  After the ritual, we were still hanging in the circle and all at once I got intensively aware of the bubble the circle is forming over our heads, like if light was reflecting on it and I ''saw'' the person looking at me, like if he was holding the bubble in his hand.  It's hard to describe, I actually knew he wasn't there, but the emotion in those 4-5 seconds were so intense, I really ''felt'' him, I just instinctively raised my head.  My friend didn't see him.  I asked two more experienced witch about it and they both told me it was astral projection.  I still haven't found the time to discuss it neither with my teacher nor with the person, but I will as soon as I get the chance.

Even if I believed astral projection was possible, I never thought I could actually "receive" the visit of anyone. Also that it took so little time to send the hello and then having him completely relaxed and reply.  I suppose he was probably meditating. The feeling is very hard to describe.

Edit: Wiccan druid, you have a very nice avatar by the way.

MM, Kevin:

Astral projection is real and obtainable.  I've done it since I was a kid.  I was sick a lot when I was little and came near death many times, and, as a result I got used to leaving my body and coming back again.  I have also had NDE's as an adult....I think that NDE's are OBE's only more intense.

I became aware of leaving my body during sleep at some point in my life.  And then, after practicing meditation for a number of years I would sometimes leave my body.  It's not something I would try to do since I find it a little scary, actually.  But that's just me.

Since I am asked to do distant healing from time to time, I have to project myself to the person that's ill, but when I do that I feel that there is only a "portion" of my consciousness that is out there although I feel quite spacey for some time after coming back again.

If I were you, before I decided to learn how to do it, I would ask myself "why?" and "what would it serve?"

Blessed Be,

MM Kevin,

as OwlWoman said ask yourself first why you want to astral project and what you want to achieve by it.  It is possible, but it's the same as spells  - don't bother if your intentions are not clean.

If you really are interested you can look up this website www.mysticweb.org  there is quite a bit of information, an online course and forums.

I've never astral projected but I do believe it's possible.

I believe in dreams - I make a spiritual practice out of them but I try not to take them TOO seriously.

In fact I try not to take anything TOO seriously.

Astral Projection is quite real. The difficulty is trying to distinguish it from a form of clairvoyance. There really isnt much difference.
Off the top of my head I do not recvall the specific 'name' or technique of projecting one's will to another location. Part of that is called remote viewing, and involves real-time knowledge of distant locations both visibly and audibly.
Astral projection need not ne real-time or an in-world, if you will, location. There are other places one can go astrally-speaking.
But the others are correct: What are you looking for? If you are looking for 'magical learning', just ask for it and let yourself relax and dream, what you seek will come to you. If, on the other hand, you want to see the truth of one planetary location over another-take a course in remote viewing.

there are techniques and books written about going "out of body".  there is one I try all the time, which is assuming a relaxed state, and to visualize yourself in the room you are in.

then, you visualize yourself standing up from where you are sitting, as if trying to leave your own body.  I actually feel that something is leaving my body. when i do that, I feel a bit numb and my visualization becomes a bit clear... I can walk about and so, but I still know that I'm sitting down there, like my mind hasn't really left the body.

I don't think it's really going out of body, but maybe your perception is changed, or increased by the exercise.

dreaming, its quite a different thing, though, it works in the subconscious level, which is where you have to go if you really want to astral project... and there the trick is to become conscious during the dream, and to become a master of that realm at will.  I definitely recommend you attempting all of this, but I would say even the attempt itself is very tiring on the mind, and you will need lots of sleep.

Yep tis real!

I've done it since I was a kid and have helped a few others to get there too! I t will work best when theres a NEED to be in a place that your body cant go! I remember when one of the witches I know was sick a while ago and I couldnt get to her, couldnt reach her by phone so I decided to pay her a visit. When I flew in through her window ( in peter pan style  lol ) she was fine, sleeping well then.. BAMN! I saw ANOTHER witch in the room with me. Another good friend of ours had done the same thing at the same time! We both took one look at each other and the shock sent us straight back into our bodies!!

If you want to make a start try looking into lucid dreaming, generally gaining a concious awareness of your subconcious workings!

Much Love
